Sam Ohuabunwa instructs FG to “Stop Humiliating ASUU”

Sam Ohuabunwa, a previous candidate for the PDP’s presidential nomination, has criticized the present Federal Government, which is headed by President Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (ret. ), for its lack of responsiveness to the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

The previous president of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria stated that the sector was doomed by the government’s approach toward education, even as the general election of 2023 drew nearer. On Wednesday, he made this assertion in a statement.

He said that unintentionally encouraging ASUU to continue a strike it had just called off was what the authorities were doing.

“I was grieved to learn that this outrageous Federal Government has taken purposeful efforts to degrade our university academics,” the statement stated.

“Every sincere effort Nigerians urged ASUU to end their strike after eight months, despite the fact that many believed their demands had not been satisfied. In the end, they cooperated with all requests, including the Industrial Court’s directive.

However, they were prepared to budge in response to the cries of parents, students, and Nigerian nationalists. That was embarrassing enough for them to restart without accomplishing the majority (or any) of their demands.

“They started up again and were mobilizing to make up for lost time. They were making every effort to regain their enthusiasm and then go above and above to make up for lost time, but now Nigerian lecturers are dealing with a half-salary issue.

This is quite unsettling. We haven’t even brought up the roughly seven months during which no money has been received at all. As with casual or daily paid employees, they were paid pro rata when they returned in October. What else could it be if this isn’t the height of humiliation? It is more than just shame, in fact.
