Ondo monarch’s kidnappers demand a N100 million ransom.

Oba Clement Jimoh Olukotun, the traditional head of the Oso Community in Ajowa-Akoko, Akoko North West Local Council of Ondo State, has been held captive for 48 hours, and his captors have demanded N100m in ransom.

The Guardian learned that the abductors contacted the monarch’s family yesterday to demand the ransom. Gunmen broke into the traditional ruler’s palace late on Thursday, and he was later kidnapped.

Before the kidnappers got in touch with the family, a family source claimed that the community’s citizens had been concerned about the monarch’s whereabouts.

Meanwhile, community members have approached Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and the appropriate authorities to offer assistance in saving their monarch from his kidnappers.

A source also revealed that the police and local hunters are working together to thoroughly search the forest from the Ajowa to Kogi borders in order to find the traditional ruler.

“We got a call early today,” he added. The call was answered by a member of the family. We can now state with certainty that the Invaders were abductors. They demanded N100m as a ransom to release Kabiyesi from his obligations. Where can we find such a huge quantity? This is out of our league.

We are pleading with the Ondo State government, members of the Akoko Northwest Local Council, and other Nigerians for assistance so that Kabiyesi can be freed from captivity intact and in safety.
