Olubadan Disputes That He Supports Peter Obi.

Yesterday, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, was not endorsed by the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Lekan Balogun, the Alli Okunmade II.

This was said in a statement that his media assistant, Oladele Ogunsola, sent to journalists in Ibadan.

The statement reads: “The claim of endorsement of the LP presidential candidate, Peter Obi, by the monarch and his members of Advisory Council, has drawn the attention of the palace of Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, and is described as false and self-concocted to mislead the public.

“High Chief Eddy Oyewole was seen praying for the party’s electoral victory in the insulting film that Obi’s managers are disseminating extensively, and one is left to question how it came to be taken as an endorsement. Are Obi’s supporters anticipating the palace’s curse on him? Please, no.

“How in the world could anybody believe that a presidential candidate from any political party would get an outright nod from a location like the palace of Olubadan? That must be an overused joke. It is absurd, to put it mildly.

“While denying the Olubadan Advisory Council’s claim of support, our lawmakers are urged to refrain from involving the palace in their plans. The candidates’ travel plans include stops to palaces while the campaign barely got underway. How would they react if palace gates were closed in their faces?

Meanwhile, the Olubadan has tasked the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) with exerting every human and professional effort to ensure that the next general elections in 2023 are conducted smoothly and without incident.

The king made the call while having Mrs. Christy Cookey, the Zone II Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), over at his Alarere palace.
