Nov. 7: CJN Will Open 2023 Election Petition Tribunals

Barring unexpected events, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, will inaugurate Election Petition Tribunals on Monday, November 7. These tribunals will decide on any petitions that could be filed during the holding of the general elections in 2023.

The President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongbam, has chosen carefully over 400 Judges from State and Federal High Courts to serve on the panel.

Festus Akande, the Supreme Court’s Director of Information and Press, revealed that the Tribunals’ inauguration will take place at the National Judicial Institute (NJI) rather than the customary Apex Court location.

He said that the NJI’s Andrews Otutu Obaseki Auditorium was taken into consideration due to the significant number of tribunal members anticipated to attend the 9 am inauguration event.
