Nigerian Man Detained in Ogun While Bathing in Blood

A 49-year-old man named Ganiyu Shina has been taken into custody in Ogun State.

The guy was detained on December 15 by members of the Ogun state Police Command for swimming in blood at a community river in the Kotopo neighborhood of the Odeda local government. He is a resident of No. 4 Oguji Street in Obantoko, Abeokuta.

When locals saw the guy at the River Bank, where he had parked his Nissan commercial truck and emerged with a local sponge and a container filled with blood and beginning to bathe in it, they called the authorities.

He rushed off running as soon as he realized someone was observing him, but community members pursued him and caught up with him.

A resident in the neighborhood called the police at Aregbe divisional headquarters. The DPO, SP Bunmi Asogbon, swiftly led the patrol squad to the spot, where the suspect was then taken to the station.

During questioning, the suspect claimed to have a spiritual issue and that a herbalist had given him the ritual’s instructions. He also said that the blood he has is cow blood rather than human.

The state police command’s spokeswoman, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the occurrence and added that CP Lanre Bankole, the state commissioner of police, had ordered that the remaining blood be seized for laboratory testing to determine whether or not it is human blood.

He continued by saying that the police chief had also thanked community members for abiding with the law and reassured them that the suspect will be thoroughly probed.
