Hours after being released from the Lagos prison, an ex-convict is arrested on suspicion of theft.

Yakub Yusuf, an ex-offender, was detained by police officers in Lagos State for reportedly stealing the valve covers off obsolete fire engines at the Lagos State Fire Service facilities.

Following his release from prison on Saturday evening, November 12, the suspect, age 23, was found.

According to a statement released by the command’s spokesman on Thursday, November 17, the defendant was found guilty of theft at a government gasoline dump in Alausa, Ikeja, and was given a sentence of one month in jail to start on November 1, 2022, with the option of a fine.

By paying the fee on Friday, November 11, a non-governmental group enabled his release less than two weeks into his sentence.

Yakub was detained once again after stealing into the offices of the Lagos State Fire Service, where he stole valve covers from an old fire engine that was being repaired.
