Governor: Simon Ekpa Is The New Bandit

The governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, declared the Simon Ekpa gang to be a new bandit that terrorizes the Southeast area on Thursday and promised that they must be expelled, particularly as the general election in 2023 draws near.

Umahi said this while speaking to APC supporters and party members at the Elders/Widows Party, which was held at the Ecumenical Center in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State.

The governor said that Ebonyi State couldn’t be a part of Biafra and bemoaned the region’s ongoing massacres and devastation of people’s lives and property.

He said this:

“When the Biafra movement first began, I warned them that this issue would extend beyond Nnamdi Kanu. And it now extends beyond Nnamdi Kanu. Every felon claims to be an IPOB. Every felon claims to be ESN.

“At this time, we have a new bandit, Simon Ekpa. Is this the Biafra that we hoped for? to be displacing others while destroying ourselves. That is why, in the midst of the crisis, we declared that Ebonyi State could never become a part of Biafra. Not Biafra are we.

“If Biafra is going to kill itself, go to the market and start murdering people who haven’t done anything, declare a sit-at-home in our country and wreck the economy, for what reason? These are unusual in our society.

“We have phones, so we ask our friends and family to contact us and let us know where these folks are. There are security personnel from Ebubeagu and the police there. Politicians that employ these lads are warned. They are the ones who file a lawsuit against Ebubeagu in court. They appear on public television to denounce Ebubeagu.

Many Ebubeagu people who were attempting to defend our people were slain by them. I kindly need information from all members of the local administration as we prepare to enter the jungle to flush out these outlaws.
