BnL and Apostle Kure demand the release of the IPOB leader

Apostle Emmanuel Nuhu Kure, the Biafra Nations League (BnL), and the Vision Pioneer Throneroom Trust Ministry (TTM) have urged the Federal Government to obey the court’s ruling and free Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who was extradited from Kenya.

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB), has been imprisoned continuously, according to BnL, but Kure urged the Federal Government to respect the court’s ruling that Kanu should be released.

During a one-day event in Kaduna organized by the Kaduna State Peace Commission in partnership with the National Peace Committee (NPC) and with funding from the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS) to engage traditional leaders, religious figures, and party chairmen in the state on stakeholder engagement and peaceful general elections in 2023, Kure made the call. He was answering questions from reporters at the time.

When asked if the detained IPOB leader should be released, he responded, “Let us respect our laws if the court says Kanu should be released. Without its laws, a country cannot exist. They’ve done it before; they first released him and then they took him into custody again.

“However, let’s respect the law because it binds us all together. No matter who it impacts, whether it’s Apostle Kure or Nnamdi Kanu, let’s uphold and enhance our legal system.

Ebuta Takon, the BnL’s deputy leader, issued the threat Wednesday in Calabar, Cross River State. Insisting that the FG commands a sizable following in the area, he continued by saying that it should not weaken its influence in the Gulf of Guinea. In order for peace to prevail, he urged the Attorney General, Abubakar Malami, to drop his appeal against the Federal High Court’s decision ordering Kanu’s release.

Saleh B. Momale, the executive vice chairman of the Kaduna State Peace Commission, warned political parties, candidates, and their supporters, including youths, against acts of aggression and hate speech during his speech at the one-day stakeholders meeting.

The cleric urged the government to take all necessary steps to ensure that the upcoming general election is conducted peacefully. He also counseled the government to apprehend and detain troublemakers who are determined to obstruct the electoral process.

Long before election day, he claimed, the government needed to crack down on criminals who may tamper with the results. These thieves invent issues in order to maneuver.

In his analysis of the election, Kure urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security organizations to establish procedures for dealing with campaign and election irregularities in a way that upholds the law.

High-level traditional, religious, and political party leaders attending the one-day event, according to the Deputy Special Representative of the UNOWAS, Ms. Giovanie Biha, demonstrated the group’s commitment to fostering lasting peace, security, and development in Kaduna State and throughout Nigeria.
