Anyone who backs Atiku is an enemy of Benue, says Ortom

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has attacked PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar in advance of the 2023 presidential election.

Anyone who backs Atiku, according to Ortom, is an enemy of the Benue people.

As a result of the murders of Benue citizens by armed Fulani herdsmen, Ortom pledged never to support Atiku’s presidential campaign while hosting his colleagues from Rivers, Oyo, Abia, and Enugu states in Makurdi, the state capital.

The governor said he would never back a Fulani guy for president of Nigeria.

“To hell with Atiku and everybody behind him,” he said. They need to notify him in person. You want me to work as a Fulani’s slave. Better off if I die. Anyone who backs Atiku is hostile to Benue. You want me to remain silent while my people are being slaughtered. You are free to act anyway you choose if you believe you have the authority because my term expires in May. My will is in writing. Never in my life would I support a Fulani guy for president.

Following Atiku’s selection as the PDP’s presidential candidate, Ortom, Nyesom Wike, Seyi Makinde, and Okezie Ikpeazu have been against the party’s leadership.

In addition, Iyorchia Ayu’s resignation as PDP’s national chairman was asked by the governors.

They emphasized that the party’s presidential candidate and national chairman cannot be produced in the North.
