A fraudster who defrauded job seekers of N9 million was caught in Nasarawa

Abdulkadir Ibrahim has been detained by the Nasarawa State Police Command on suspicion of scamming job seekers of a significant quantity of money by promising them positions in the Civil Defence, Immigration, INEC, and other organizations that did not exist.

This was revealed by DSP Ramhan Nansel, the State Police Command’s spokesperson, in a statement on Friday, October 28, 2022.

The culprit tricked the victims of N9m by posing as Barr. Mamman Alakayi, the Commissioner who represents Nasarawa State at the Federal Character Commission (FCC), according to the PPRO.

The statement read, “On October 26, 2022, Police operatives attached to State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia arrested one Abdulkadir Ibrahim ‘M’ 27 years old from Azara, Awe LGA of Nasarawa State for impersonating Barr. Mamman Toro Alakayi, the commissioner representing Nasarawa state at Federal Character Commission, and defrauding unwary members of the public to the tune of Nine Million Naira (#9,000,000).

“Fraudulently obtaining funds from members of the public under the pretense of providing them with employment at the Independent National Electoral Commission, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Correctional Service, and Federal Inland Revenue Service, the suspect has been posing on one of the social media platforms as Barr. Mamman Toro Alakayi.

“Following the execution of a search warrant at his home, two appointment letters from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the National Taskforce (NATFORCE) were found. Additionally, the suspect, who has admitted to the crime, was found to be in possession of six (6) documentation forms from the Nigerian Immigration Service, all of which bore different names.

At the end of the inquiry, which is proceeding at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia, he will be charged and prosecuted.
