Weston McKennie, an American international, has been signed by Leeds.

After beating off competition from Fulham and Nottingham Forest, Leeds has secured the services of the American international till the conclusion of the current campaign.

This week, Leeds and McKennie, 24, came to an arrangement for a loan with an option to purchase him for £30 million.

After acquiring Georginio Ritter from Hoffenheim earlier in the transfer season for £35.5 million, the agreement, which includes a €1.5 million (£1.3 million) loan fee, is another major show of purpose from Leeds to back manager Jesse Marsch.

Leeds expressed interest when Juventus made McKennie available for a loan with the option to purchase earlier this month.

The USA international has previously been quoted by Sportsmail as saying that Leeds presents a very intriguing possibility to fulfill his ambition of playing in the Premier League.

He joined Juventus in 2020 from German club Schalke and has since appeared in 70 appearances, scoring nine goals.

One of his finest shots for the Italian team was an overhead kick against Barcelona in the Champions League, and he scored many more significant goals in Serie A that helped Juventus qualify for the Champions League the last two seasons.

McKennie, although being versatile, is regarded as “the most disposable” player on Max Allegri’s team despite having played 21 games overall and 15 league games this year.

Additionally, he started each game for the USA in the World Cup in Qatar, when they lost to Holland in the Round of 16.
