Manchester United Declares Team For Europa League

Before their impending two-legged elimination round playoff with Barcelona, Manchester United has announced their Europa League team.

The first leg of the match will take place at Camp Nou on February 16, and the 20-time English champions will go there before hosting the Catalan powerhouses to Old Trafford on February 23.

The contest winner will then go to the competition’s knockout phase.

Barcelona dropped into the Europa League after finishing third in their Champions League group behind Bayern Munich and Inter Milan. However, Xavi’s team is now leading La Liga, has just won the Spanish Super Cup, and is currently playing in the Copa del Rey semifinals.

Man United, on the other hand, finished ahead of Real Sociedad at the top of Group E despite winning five of their six games during the group stage of the Europa League.

In the January transfer window, the Red Devils brought in three players, with Jack Butland joining on loan from Crystal Palace to expand head coach Erik ten Hag’s options in goal.

On deadline day, Marcel Sabitzer moved to Old Trafford on loan from Bayern Munich, and Wout Weghorst joined from Burnley.

Cristiano Ronaldo left the team at the end of November, leaving Butland, Weghorst, and Sabitzer as his replacements.

Axel Tuanzebe is out after going on loan to Stoke City, while Martin Dubravka is also gone after returning to his original club Newcastle United.

Shola Shoretire and Charlie McNeill won’t participate in the competition’s latter rounds either since they went on loan to Bolton Wanderers and Newport County, respectively.
