Lisandro Martinez, According To Carragher, “Has Been Brilliant” For Man United.

Despite his initial reservations, Jamie Carragher has accepted that Man United defender Lisandro Martinez has been “fantastic” for the Red Devils this season.

Martinez, who was a member of the Argentina team that won the World Cup in December, has been a crucial cog in Erik ten Hag’s Old Trafford defense this year.

Carragher said that Martinez has’surprised’ him this year. There had been worries that the defender’s stature, namely his 5ft 9in size, would prove expensive in the Premier League.

The Liverpool legend spoke of Lisandro Martnez at the Overlap Fan Debate: “Lisandro Martnez has been fantastic. You must be a special player to play center back while being so little.

‘He’s played a huge role in the spirit of Manchester United. He was a substitute in a game I saw a few weeks ago, and when someone scored a late goal, he immediately joined in the celebrations.

At the World Cup with Argentina, we seen him engage in that battle; when he and Casemiro enter the game, they both feel more powerful and forceful. A person that huge will eventually become exposed in the air; it is a given.

Every player has flaws, but the greatest players cover them up or take precautions to prevent them from being seen. He’s a tremendously excellent player, and I was amazed by how well he handled the situation.
