Lionel Messi, the captain of Argentina, has not ruled out competing in the 2026 World Cup.
The 35-year-old acknowledges that it will be challenging to participate in the competition due to his advanced age.
Messi said that the competition in Qatar in 2022 will be his last.
Messi has now said he would be open to participating in the United States, Canada, and Mexico in three years.
“In 2026, it’ll be challenging to succeed due to age.
“I love playing football, so I’m going to stay at it as long as I feel healthy and like it.”
The Argentine newspaper Diario Olé quoted Messi as saying, “It feels like a long time before the next World Cup, but it depends on how my career is going.”
