In the last days of the January 2023 transfer window, Hakim Ziyech’s loan transfer from Chelsea FC to PSG was apparently in the works. However, a startling change of circumstances caused the deal to fall through on January 31st.

Many people have questioned why the agreement was not finished in time, and according to reports from sports writers, the final paper filing was not done in time to allow the loan transfer. It was claimed that Chelsea had twice provided unsigned paperwork to PSG, delaying the loan transfer’s quick conclusion.

Just hours before the deadline of 11 p.m., the agreement for Ziyech to join PSG—which had been beset by problems throughout the whole day—appeared to be finally on track.

Although an agreement had been reached between the two teams, it fell through when it was alleged that Chelsea had repeatedly filed the wrong paperwork to approve the sale.
