A Veteran Striker’s Summer Return To Barcelona Has Been Ruled Out.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, a striker for Chelsea, has been linked with a return to Barcelona this winter as the Gabonese player struggles under Graham Potter. He had previously played for two teams, so his only option was the Blaugrana.

Currently, Barcelona’s wage problems prevented them from making a deal. Ronald Araujo still has to be registered by the Blaugrana, who have only been able to do so with Gavi thanks to a court ruling, albeit even that might backfire on them.

Barcelona expects to have extra room in their wage cap this summer, but Sport reports that it won’t be utilized to sign Aubameyang. The Chelsea striker makes “astronomical” salary, and even if he were to return for free, it would be “nearly impossible” despite his desire.

Even if Aubameyang is still a fantastic backup option, it would be questionable to sign a player who will be 34 at the start of the next season unless his salary are virtually at the league minimum.
