Ronaldo has received a £50,000 fine, a two-match suspension, and a warning.

The Football Association has punished Cristiano Ronaldo with a two-game suspension and a £50,000 fine for throwing a supporter’s cell phone to the ground in the previous campaign.

Following the incident at Everton in April of last year, the 37-year-old, whose contract with Manchester United was terminated this week, has been charged by the FA with “improper and/or violent” conduct.

After smashing a young fan’s phone as he left the field at Goodison Park, Ronaldo later issued an apology on social media and took a police warning.

Ronaldo was questioned by Merseyside police regarding a claim of assault and criminal damage on August 17, and the police department later confirmed that their investigation was over at that time.

The Portuguese forward, however, has now received a sizable fine and a two-game suspension should he play in English competition again as a result of an FA investigation.
