Osimhen Not Faking Injury Ahead of Match Against Portugal – NFF

Babafemi Raji, the media representative for the Super Eagles, has refuted rumors that Victor Osimhen withdrew from the team’s upcoming friendly match against Portugal on purpose.

Osimhen has faced harsh criticism for missing the friendly match due to injury.

The forward was also absent from the Super Eagles’ previous exhibition game against the Algerian Desert Foxes last month.

The 23-year-old played for 90 minutes in Napoli’s 3-2 victory over Udinese last weekend while playing for his Serie A club.

Raji reported that Napoli had sent the medical staff for the Super Eagles an MRI scan of the injury.

“Osimhen has a wound. Although he did participate in his team’s final game, Napoli medical staff has sent MRI (scans) to the team.

“He will now receive a 15-day period of active rest.”

In place of Osimhen, Cremonese forward Cyriel Dessers has been called up.
