Memphis Depay’s signing with Manchester United is “moving forward” in January.

According to reports, Manchester United is looking to sensationally re-sign Memphis Depay.

The Dutchman arrived in the north-west with much fanfare and promise before the 2015–16 season but failed to deliver before being sold to Lyon in 2017.

Depay signed for Barcelona last year, realizing his dream of joining one of the biggest clubs in world football after somewhat rebuilding his career with Lyon.

It was a decision that initially paid off, with the Dutchman transferring some of his Ligue 1 performances to Spain, but it has since gone south as Xavi Hernandez and the club’s vocal supporters appear to agree on his future status at the club.

In order to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, whose contract was terminated as a result of his shocking interview with Piers Morgan last week, United will reportedly try to offer him a way out of the club in January.

According to the report, United have been trying to re-sign the forward, and Barcelona will undoubtedly approve of his transfer. According to reports, it is “obvious” to the Catalans that he must depart this winter.

He did not move to Juventus during the summer, a move that was discussed throughout much of July and early August, as there are obvious contract issues that hang over the heads of all Barcelona players at the moment.

It is unlikely to be as much of a roadblock as it was during the summer because he has six months left on his contract from January. According to Sport, should Depay receive a favorable financial offer from United, he will forego the payment due to him for the few months left on his contract with Barcelona.
