|Timo Werner, a striker for Germany, will miss the World Cup in Qatar until 2023 due to an ankle injury.
After 19 minutes of RB Leipzig’s 4-0 Champions League victory against Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday, the 26-year-old was substituted.
The former Chelsea striker has scored 24 goals in 55 appearances for Germany and is on form this season.
On November 23, Germany will play its first World Cup encounter against Japan.
Werner competed for Germany in the 2018 World Cup and the 2020 Euro.
