Chelsea Experiences Injury Setback Before Arsenal Match

Ben Chilwell, a defender for Chelsea, suffered a hamstring injury during the final minutes of their 2-1 Champions League victory over Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday at Stamford Bridge.

Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga will not play for Chelsea against Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday, according to manager Graham Potter.

Kepa, who is currently dealing with a foot injury, was spotted using crutches as he entered Stamford Bridge for Chelsea’s Champions League victory over Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday night.

Edouard Mendy, a teammate, started ahead of Kepa, and it now appears that he will keep that position for Chelsea’s match against Arsenal this weekend.

At his post-game news conference after Chelsea’s victory over Dinamo, Potter said when questioned about the most recent Kepa development:

He won’t be OK for Sunday, no.

“Using crutches is merely preventative in order to keep weight off his foot.

He is making good progress but won’t be ready for Sunday.

Regarding Chilwell, Potter further said,

“On an otherwise fantastic evening, it’s a setback for us. It is not a pleasant sight to see him pull up in that manner.

So, let’s hope it’s not too awful when it’s scanned. We have to cross our fingers right now, but it can’t be as bad. But it’s obvious that we’re dissatisfied.
