Van Dijk Named Fastest Player In 2018-19 Champions League(Photos)

Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk has been revealed as the fastest player in the 2018-19 Champions League season campaign, MySportDab reports.

The Dutch defender outpaced the likes of Gareth Bale and Leroy Sane and even his own rapid teammates Mohamed Salah And Sadio Mane with a top speed of 34.5km per hour.

PSG Star Kylian Mbappe didn’t even manage to make the top five but Bale, even despite a lack of games this season, landed fifth spot for a sprint in a Real match against Roma.

Bale reached 33.8 KM/H during the game but that was pipped by Man City defender Kyle Walker, who hit 34.2 KM/H for the Blues against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Van Dijk, who was instrumental in helping Liverpool to secure the European Cup in the heart of defence, was ranked first ahead of some of Europe’s most attacking threats.

The centre-back’s fastest sprint came against Barcelona at the Camp Nou when the hosts went bursting forward on a counter-attack after a Reds corner in the 92nd minute.
