Wike Praises The Supreme Court, And Rivers Will Follow.

Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has praised the Nigerian Supreme Court for preserving democracy by preventing the Central Bank from outlawing the usage of the old N200, N500, and N1000 notes beyond February 10, 2023.

The governor said that the Supreme Court’s intervention came at the right moment since some individuals have been determined to sabotage the current democratic process.

On Wednesday, the Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) organized a campaign flag-off event in the Abua/Odual Local Government Area, which was held at the County State School, Emilaghan in Central Abua.

“I want to thank the Nigerian Supreme Court for what they did today (Wednesday) to rescue the people of this nation and to defend democracy on behalf of the Rivers State Government.

“Today, the Supreme Court prevented the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from starting an initiative to discontinue the circulation of the old Nigerian Naira notes.”

The governor also announced that the government of Rivers State will join the three northern states in the lawsuit previously filed to contest the CBN’s actions.

“And let me salute my fellow states who went to the Supreme Court to challenge the Federal Government, including Kogi, Kaduna, and Zamfara states.
