Tinubu/Shettima Rally In Oyo Is Postponed By The APC Indefinitely.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially announced the cancellation of today’s presidential rally that was originally planned to take place at Mapo Hall in Ibadan.

Olawale Shadare, the Oyo APC’s publicity secretary, said yesterday that the decision was made by the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), which is chaired by Governor Simon Lalong.

Since Thursday, February 2, 2023, a number of demonstrations have been taking place in Ibadan, the state capital, in response to the gasoline and naira crises.

“Oyo’s turn of the Tinubu/Shettima campaign rally had previously been postponed from January 9, to February 7, 2023,” the statement states. “Reports have it that preparations had reached its peak when word trickled in from Abuja that the event would not place again as planned for this Tuesday.”

Sadare lamented the delay, which, in his view, was unavoidable after the crisis brought on by the shortage of gasoline, the introduction of the Federal Government’s cashless policy, and the redesign of local currencies.

He said: “We regret to advise that our presidential event, which was originally scheduled for tomorrow, has been postponed indefinitely. The decision was purportedly made in light of the current difficulties the populace is suffering and the need to give President Muhammadu Buhari time to find solutions and guarantee that normality returns, especially in light of the gasoline and currency note problems.

“At Oyo APC, we were convinced that the event wasn’t necessary to proceed with, in order to avoid playing into the hands of some anti-democratic forces, who do not want the country’s general election to proceed as scheduled because they believe the result would produce a new order capable of returning Nigeria to Nigerians.

Shadare promised the people that Oyo state will successfully welcome Bola Tinubu and his team shortly, even if a new date has not yet been revealed.
