Our Database Is Being Attacked By Foreign Hackers, The INEC Chairman Cries.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, has warned of efforts by foreign hackers to access the commission’s database ahead of the 2023 general election.
Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of INEC, made this announcement on Thursday in Abuja at the NAJUC’s annual national conference, which had as its topic “2023 General Elections; Judiciary and Sustainability of Nigeria’s Democracy.”
Yakubu, who was represented by Dr. Lawrence Bayode, the deputy director of ICT, emphasized that the assaults are not only coming from Nigeria but are coming from all over the globe.
“On Wednesday, January 25, we looked at the system and saw that individuals were attempting to enter it from France, but we are also putting certain measures in place.
“You cannot construct a home without including a door, window, or burglary. We have made every effort to keep our system secure.
He went on to say that the backend, IReV, and the result viewing portal are all properly protected against attacks, according to Daily Trust.
