Obi-datti Media Refutes Claims That It Spent N2 Billion To Increase The Presidential Vote.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has said that neither it nor any petition dated December 22, 2022 have received any knowledge of any N2 billion provided to churches in Nigeria to mobilize votes for a presidential candidate in the 2023 election.

An online news outlet claimed yesterday that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP), had supplied the N2 billion mobilization fund that was allegedly ripping the Christian community apart.

However, the so-called petition, which CAN President Archbishop Daniel Okoh claimed was signed by a certain Pastor Frank Onwumere and was addressed to his office, is illogical and is best characterized as an unsuccessful attempt to drag the Christian body into 2023 politics, according to a statement he made in Abuja.

Okoh advised Nigerians to ignore the petition since its claims are not only false but also harmful, and that CAN will “examine the origins of the letter in the interest of the public.”

Nigerians should be aware that CAN, a faith-based organization, retains its non-partisan position and will not promote or mobilize support for any candidate in the next elections, in contrast to the social media post being spread by certain groups determined to tarnish its name and reputation.
