Obaseki Raises The Age At Which Teachers May Retire

In keeping with his commitment to improving employee welfare, Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki raised the retirement age for teachers in the state to 65 years old or 40 years of service.

Anthony Okungbowa, the state’s head of service, revealed this in a statement and said that the governor’s endorsement confirms his steadfast commitment to laying a strong basis for the state’s education sector to be repositioned.

He declared: “The Governor of Edo State has authorized a new retirement age for teachers. Now, they may retire at age 65 or 40 years of service, whichever comes first.

“This shows his dedication to making sure Edo teachers are the most driven in all of Nigeria. It is crucial to remind the Edo people that the best-paid employees in Nigeria’s public sector are both Edo employees and teachers.

He pointed out that the change would guarantee that instructors with decades of experience are kept in their positions to contribute their fair share to giving Edo students a quality education.

“Workers in Edo had yet another major victory. The governor has shown time and time again that he would always prioritize the needs of the workers in Edo. This serves as just another evidence of that today.
