Thousands of oil and gas specialists from over 40 nations are expected to assemble in Lagos to talk about new difficulties facing the oil and gas industry throughout the energy transition.

The Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria will organize the seventh edition of the sub-Saharan Africa International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (SAIPEC), where the participants would congregate (PETAN).

The event is anticipated to generate networking and cooperation possibilities that would encourage regional collaborations via a weeklong schedule of activities, the organizers said in a press statement, despite declining funding and pressure from fossil fuel.

With speakers, delegations, and organizations coming from over 40 nations in sub-Saharan Africa and beyond, including Uganda, Ghana, Gambia, Senegal, Angola, Tanzania, Niger, Liberia, Kenya, Namibia, Somalia, and Mozambique, PETAN Chair Nik Odinuwe declared that the event would serve as a model for open discourse and the motivation of stakeholders to recognize the abundance of business opportunities in the sub-Saharan African oil and gas industry and the global

According to Odinuwe, conversations and strategic alliances continue beyond the meeting and that the conference will advance growth.

“SAIPEC appears to be the largest platform connecting stakeholders to the global energy industry and markets based on the enormous turnout of stakeholders, including International Oil Companies (IOCs), National Oil Companies (NOCs), regulators, service providers, the academia, and other stakeholders at SAIPEC each year. We have tremendous attendance each year because the testimonials are readily available to observe, he said.

Prior to the event, the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and PETAN would host an African Content Series seminar where a select group of NOCs, regulators, governments, and private sector representatives would present best practices for local content and give an overview of Africa’s hydrocarbon resource base.

The attendees would also ruminate on the causes behind the introduction of regional content in the oil, gas, and energy sectors.
