Fear As Kidnappers Attack Throughout The Country

Following the series of kidnappings that occurred in Nigeria between Thursday night and yesterday evening, many Nigerians are now fearful ahead of the next general election.

No less than 19 people were abducted in the last 24 hours, according to reports obtained by The Guardian from throughout the nation. The victims’ families and locals in the towns where the crimes occurred cried out to the security services for assistance.

Schoolchildren, traditional leaders, clerics, and regular Nigerians were among the victims of yesterday’s kidnapping occurrences. In the early hours of Wednesday, gunmen kidnapped six schoolchildren in Nasarawa State.

An eyewitness claims that the gunmen attacked LGEA Primary School, Alwaza, in the state’s Doma local council and kidnapped the students while they were attending assembly.

“The kidnappers arrived and told the students to accompany them as the assembly workers fled while the kids were on the assembly field. As the six victims were being transported away on motorcycles, other students could be heard screaming and pleading for assistance, according to the eyewitness.

In confirming the event, the state police public relations officer for Nasarawa State Command, DSP Rahman Nansel, said that a combined security squad made up of the police, military, and vigilante had been activated and was now on the hunt for the kidnappers.

Gunmen abducted Justice Sani Suleiman Duna (rtd. ), the traditional leader of Mutum-Biyu in Gassol Local Council, together with his two wives and six children, in Taraba State. The event, which happened Friday night at about 1:00 a.m., caused a noticeable amount of stress in the neighborhood and its surroundings.

One of the palace guards, who also verified the kidnapping of the monarch and his family, said the community’s residents were taken by surprise.

He emphasized the necessity for the appropriate authorities to guarantee strict security in the council in addition to calling on the state government to work with the security services to facilitate the monarch’s release.
