EFCC Detains And Parades 19 People In Kwara For Purchasing Votes

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) unveiled 19 alleged vote-buyers who were detained during the state’s governorship and assembly elections on Saturday in Ilorin.

The suspects were paraded before the commission’s head office, which is situated at GRA, Ilorin, according to Michael Nzekwe, acting zonal head of the EFCC’s Ilorin zone.

According to Nzekwe, the commission’s duty was to guarantee that financial influence in politics was completely eliminated.

“The accused had a direct hand in purchasing votes. We obtained reliable information and took action as a result.

We were all over the state; some of us were detained at Omu-Aran, Ilorin South, and Ilorin West, according to Nzekwe.

He also said that an inquiry will start right away, and that the law would thereafter be followed.

“We will conduct a more thorough investigation, notwithstanding the fact that they were pulled up in various places around the state with cash and Point on Sales (PoS) devices discovered in their hands.

The acting Zonal Chief said, “We are an agency established by law and we will rigorously follow the rules of the law when we have ended investigation.
