Due To Apparent Partisanship, Atiku And HURIWA Want The Lagos REC Removed.

Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate for president, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to oust Olusegun Agbaje, the REC in Lagos, for alleged partisanship and compromise.

The Waziri of Adamawa expressed curiosity over Agbaje’s insistence on using the Lagos State Park and Garage Management Committee, which is run by transport tycoon and APC Presidential Campaign Council member Musiliu Akinsanya (also known as MC Oluomo), for election logistics on February 25 and March 11, 2023. Agbaje’s statement was released by his Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu.

The REC’s explanation that INEC would be unable to engage the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and Road Transport Employees Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) because they had been prohibited from operating in Lagos State was characterized by the man as “watery.”

“The law is clear that only a court has the authority to proscribe an organization,” the former vice president said. Because of this, the Federal Government had to file a lawsuit to have the Islamic Movement of Nigeria and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) declared illegal (IMN).

“What Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu did was unilaterally declare a ban on NURTW operations after the group suspended APC operative MC Oluomo. By collaborating with a political group made up of APC members who support Bola Tinubu, INEC must not encourage criminality.
