Dpo And Four Other Police Officers Are Killed In Niger.

The Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Paikoro Local Council of Niger State, SP Muktar Sabiu, and four other Police officers of the division perished in a gun battle with bandits near the Kwakuti-Dajigbe villages of Lambata, in Gurara Local Council, according to information released by the Niger State Police Command.

In a statement made to media on Saturday in Minna, the Command’s spokesman, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, said that the division had received information on February 11, 2023, that armed bandits had been spotted in the vicinity of the Kwakuti-Dajibge villages and were attempting to attack some local communities.

According to the statement, a joint team of police officers from the Gawun Babangida and Paikoro divisions, the military, and vigilantes were sent to the area. It was added that the hoodlums engaged in a gun fight and were repulsed, with several of them fleeing with gunshot wounds.

The gunfight claimed the life of SP Muktar Sabiu, DPO Paikoro division, four other police officers from the division, and Muktar Sabiu.

It further revealed that the remains of the dead soldiers had been retrieved after a reinforcement team commanded by Niger State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Ogundele.J.Ayodeji, arrived on the spot.
