Cross River Police Display 21 People Over Murder, Gun Running, And Other Offenses

Yesterday, the Cross River State Police Command paraded 21 suspects, among them Eyo Etim Bassey, who is accused of killing a woman and dumping her body in a septic tank.

Four further individuals who tried to abduct the Commissioner for Industry and Commerce, Peter Egba, two individuals for running guns, and fourteen other individuals for different criminal offenses are among the 21 suspects paraded at the Command headquarters at Diamond Hill, Calabar.

During the process, the police seized a stockpile of weapons as well as G3, AK 47 rifles, 10 locally produced firearms, and walkie-talkies from the suspects and a gun manufacturing syndicate centered in the state’s Obanliku Council.

“The previous year provided sets of security problems, which at some point grew to endanger the security order and national cohesiveness of the state,” stated Sule Balarabe, Commissioner of Police.

The Command’s efforts to combat crime have remained unhindered, unwavering, and focused, as evidenced by the arrest of kidnapping syndicates, the recovery of weapons and ammunition through actionable intelligence, strategic raids, and the effective deployment around critical infrastructure, primarily INEC facilities, among others.

He urged the state’s political gladiators to uphold the rule of law, avoid politics of resentment, and adopt a sportsmanlike attitude.
