Building Collapse In Abuja: 15 People Were Saved, But Three People Are Thought Dead.

On Thursday, a two-story structure collapsed in Gwarinpa town in the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja, leaving three people assumed dead, 15 people rescued, and additional people thought to be trapped beneath the wreckage.

A retail mall was also located in the structure, which was under construction on 7th Avenue in Gwarinpa, FCT.

A team from the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMAC) and the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency worked together to complete the rescue (FERMA).

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other organizations were also members of the rescue squad.

Simon Keror, an eyewitness who worked at the other new estate next to the fallen building, said that they were able to save the same individuals before the rescue services came.

Umar Shuaibu, the coordinator of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC), responded by saying that after the recuse mission, the AMMC will perform an integrity test on the nearby homes.

He reported two fatalities and 15 hospitalizations.

The council will start investigating the immediate and distant causes of the fall, he said.

When CP Sadiq Abubakar, the commissioner of police, visited the location, he gave the assurance that the FCT Police will provide the assistance required to facilitate rescue efforts and prevent hoodlums from taking advantage of the circumstance.
