According To Edo Ipman Chairman, The Price Of Fuel Would Shortly Normalize.

Alhaji Baba Saliu, the chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) in Edo State, believes that the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Ltd.’s recent import of more than 143 million liters of gasoline will put an end to the current fuel shortage and subsequent rise in petroleum product prices.

Currently, a litre of gasoline costs between N350 and N500 in certain areas of Edo State, as opposed to the official pump price of N190.

Saliu told reporters yesterday in Benin that prices for independent and large merchants will soon be the same. This was immediately after the association’s members met. We have received guarantees from the managing director of NNPC Ltd that he would treat us all equally. When the playing field is leveled, we will be prepared to provide and drive down prices.

“I think the country’s gasoline shortage will be a thing of the past in two weeks. Petroleum goods will be available everywhere in the nation in another two weeks, and the price will drop to the official rate of N190 per litre.

Saliu bemoaned that Nigerians sleep at retail stores to source for gasoline, which they purchase at a very high cost, and justified the current price fluctuations by attributing them to the unavailability of the items.

He urged the people of Edo to be patient with the marketers and said that IPMAN was prepared to work with the state government to address the most recent shortage.
