Abia: A Security Guard Kills An Employee Of A Restaurant Because The Phone Went Missing

Mr. Izuchukwu Mbakwe, a 27-year-old restaurant worker, was fatally shot yesterday at the De Choice Restaurant in Umuahia, the capital of Abia State, by a member of the local vigilante organization.

Apparently shot on his laps at close range, the deceased is a resident of Umuosu Okaiuga Nkwoegwu in Umuahia North Local Council.

Geoffrey Ogbonna, a spokesman for the Abia State Police Command, verified the occurrence and said that the suspect had been taken into custody and that his gun had been found.

The Guardian learned that the restaurant’s internal auditor had summoned a vigilante upon the victim’s arrival for work as usual and sought his arrest for a lost “Nokia Torch” phone that belonged to the business.

Izuchukwu was reportedly stripped of his clothing by the overzealous security officer, who then pummeled him into a coma before shooting him on his lap at close range with a pump action gun, damaging his femoral artery.

The victim was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Umuahia in response to customer pleas, but he passed away just as he was going to be transferred to a specialized facility.

Mrs. Adaora Chukwuemeka, the deceased’s elder sister, demanded justice after alleging that her late brother was left to bleed to death outside in the rain.

She said that the late brother’s employer, who owed him five months’ worth of wages, had not yet been in touch with the family about his passing.
