9 New Judges Are Appointed By The Federal High Court.

In addition to the 15 judges who had previously been authorized but were still waiting, Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, the Chief Judge (CJ) of the Federal High Court, yesterday announced the appointment of nine more justices for the court.

In a statement, the court’s assistant director of information, Catherine Oby Christopher, said the CJ made the appointment in the exercise of his constitutional authority and as a result of consent from the CJN and Chairman of the National Judicial Council, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.

The statement further said that the process for considering applicants for potential appointments to the Federal High Court bench for the states of Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Gombe, Ogun, and Oyo will shortly begin.

In accordance with the NJC Guidelines and Procedural Rules for Appointment of Judicial Officers of Superior Courts, the Honourable Chief Judge hereby invites Your Lordships, the Hon. Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, as well as the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, to kindly nominate suitably qualified individuals from the aforementioned states for appointment to the Federal High Court Bench.

The announcement further said that “all suggestions are to reach the Chambers of the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court on or before February 28, 2023.”
