3200 Lp Members Defect To The Pdp In A Wave Of Mass Departure.

In the Abia State local government areas of Obingwa and Isiala-Ngwa South, no less than 3200 party members switched from the opposition Labour Party (LP) to the incumbent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Almost 3000 decampees who were being led by Hon. Maduka Akpulonu, the party’s director general and senatorial candidate in the February 25 election, left Obingwa.

On Tuesday, Elder Erondu U. Erondu Jnr., the PDP ward chairman, and other party leaders welcomed them at Osusu Amaukwa Model School.

Similar to Isiala-Ngwa South, the former LP members there claimed they defected due to Dr. Alex Otti, the governorship candidate for their previous party, being overly elite and unavailable to the people.

The decampees further charged Otti with being conceited and dishonest for claiming to be from the Isiala-Ngwa South LGA while in fact he was from the Arochukwu LGA and had chosen his running mate from the Ohafia LGA, both of which were part of the state’s Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency.

The Transition Council (TC) Chairman of the Isiala-Ngwa South LGA, Chief Ike Anyatonwu, welcomed the Isiala-Ngwa South decampees at Isi Eketa Market Square in Ovuokwu Ward-9, Isiala-Ngwa South LGA.

At the event, Dr. Chris Nwagboso, Chief Uzoma Ihuka, Elder Godwin Nna, Barr Emeka Eze, Chief Lucky Adindu, and the PDP ward Chairman all joined the TC Chairman in welcoming the decampees.

Anyatonwu welcomed the decampees, complimented their fortitude and commitment, and gave them the assurance that they will be treated equally with other PDP members.

He told them that if Sir Okey Ahiwe, the PDP’s nominee for governor, is elected, he will ensure that both the local region and the state as a whole develop more quickly.

We all know and adore Ahiwe for his humility and strong sense of political inclusivity.

You are welcome to board this moving train as equal partners with the other PDP members, Anyatonwu said. “I am convinced that his election will herald a quick growth in the fortunes of the state,” Anyatonwu said.

The decampees’ leader, Mr. Onyedikachi Nkechinturu of Umuegoro village, praised the PDP and its candidate for having leadership skills and urged all Abachians to support his bid to succeed the current governor of the state.

Nkechinturu stated, “We have fought for the Labour Party to win the Presidency, Senate, and House of Representatives elections. It is now time to work for a governorship candidate that we have confidence will listen to the people, open his doors for us, and provide security in our state.”
