Two Are Charged With Theft of Employer’s N1.4M in Court

According to NAN, two people were taken before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State on Wednesday for allegedly stealing a flat-screen TV, a stabilizer, and other items worth N1.4 million.

The defendants, Oluwatofunmi Akala, 40, and Adeleke Kehinde, 17, are accused of conspiring and stealing on two counts; their residences are unknown.

The defendants committed the offenses between April and July 2022 at Adamasum Street, Ikeja, Ota, according to Police Prosecutor Insp. E. O. Adaraloye.

Akala and Kehinde, who was the stock-keeper, allegedly planned to take Bolarinde Esther’s property, according to Adaraloye.

He claimed that the offenses were in violation of Sections 383 and 516 of the Ogun, Nigeria, 2006 Criminal Code.

However, they entered a not guilty plea to the accusations.

Each defendant was granted N200,000 bail with one surety in the same amount by the magistrate, Mrs. A. O. Adeyemi.

Adeyemi mandated that the surety must be a resident of the court’s geographic jurisdiction, be actively seeking employment, and provide documentation of tax payments to the Ogun Government.

She postponed the case’s hearing until November 24.
