Senior Student: “My Father Is Rich But I’m Broke”

Nalkur Zwalnan Lar, a student in the education department at Federal University, Kashere (FUK), Gombe State, hung himself to death outside the campus on Wednesday night.

The deceased, according to reports, committed suicide in Santuraki quarters next to a communication tower.

He reportedly committed himself after learning his lover had wed someone else during the seven-month strike that the Academic Staff Union of Institutions had started when academic activity resumed at the universities (ASUU). The name of the girl was omitted.

He notably addressed these and other concerns in his leaked parting letter, including his inability to acquire a smart phone for N50,000 despite the purported millions of Naira his father allegedly possesses.

The dead said in his last note that life would be meaningless for him if he couldn’t afford a phone that cost N50,000 when his father is a multimillionaire, according to his neighbors who leaked the letter.

They said that in addition to criticizing his former fiancée, who had secretly wed someone else, he also blamed her treachery for his choice to end his life as well as his father’s refusal to allow him to own fancy phones despite being wealthy.

They did point out that the youngster reportedly begged them to send the letter to his parents and wait 20 minutes before opening the letter.
