!!! Rumors of a proposed move of Nigeria’s capital are denied by the APC

A claim circulating on social media that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the party’s presidential candidate, has plans to move the Federal Capital from Abuja to Lagos after succeeding President Muhammad Buhari, has been debunked by the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council.

According to the report, Tinubu never considered such plans and would never do so because they are in violation of the constitution of the nation.

The Director of Media and Publicity for the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Bayo Onanuga, made this information public on Tuesday in a statement that was released and signed.

The Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, and the Labour Party were blamed in the statement for spearheading the campaign of false information against their candidate, as some field reports had demonstrated.

The statement said, in part:

“The Presidential Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress hereby warns Nigerians about the latest nefarious campaign being waged in some regions of the nation against our candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

One of the myths going around, particularly in the country’s North West, claims that Tinubu has plans to move the Federal Capital from Abuja to Lagos after succeeding President Muhammad Buhari on May 29, 2023.

According to reports from the field, certain elders employed by the Peoples Democratic Party are aiding in the spread of this false information.

“Let us emphasize that Asiwaju does not contemplate any such plan and will not act in such an ultra-unconstitutional manner,” the statement reads.

It also bemoaned the fact that some fake news publishers had misrepresented information regarding the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited’s recent commercialization.

It was made clear that President Buhari has changed it from a government agency to a business in accordance with the Petroleum Industry Act.
