Police in Ogun capture three motorbike robbers.
Three members of a robbery group that targets motorbike owners have been apprehended by Ogun State Police Command officers. On December 5, 2022, police officers assigned to the Ago Iwoye divisional headquarters received a distress call reporting that a motorcyclist named Shefiu Moshood was being attacked by two men who pretended to be passengers and asked him to take them to Oke Erigba Village in his motorcycle. The men, Daniel Akapo, “27,” Idowu Ajao Sunday, “20,” and Dare Olusegun, “24,” were then detained.
The two suspects abruptly stopped him along the road, according to the police, and warned him they would not be returning.
In order to steal the motorbike from the rider, they claimed to want to give him money before pulling out a bag of ground pepper and robbing him in front of him.
“As he struggled with them, a war axe dropped from the suspects’ backpack; the victim grabbed it and used it to strike back at them. While the fight was going on, Superintendent of Police (SP) Noah Adekanye, the divisional police officer for Ago Iwoye, showed up with his men and a few Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) members.
The hoodlums fled when they saw the police officers, but they were pursued vigorously and Daniel Akapo and Idowu Ajao Sunday were captured.
They admitted to the crime during questioning and told the police that Dare Olusegun had asked them to go and steal a motorcycle with the promise that he would help them sell it somewhere in Ibadan.
According to the police, their confession resulted in the arrest of the aforementioned Dare Olusegun, who also verified the two apprehended suspects’ statements.
