Ondo Monarch Regains Freedom Following N10 Million Ransom Payment

Oba Clement Jimoh Olukotun, the traditional head of Oso in Ondo State’s Ajowa- Akoko, Akoko North-West Local Government Area, who was abducted last week, has been released.

The monarch, who had been held captive for seven days, was freed on Wednesday at approximately 10 p.m. in Kogi State, according to local reports.

 

One of the sources said that before he was freed, his family paid the kidnappers a ransom of N10 million.

 

On Thursday of last week, armed men broke into the traditional leader’s castle and abducted the 66-year-old man.

 

After the king was taken hostage, the kidnappers sought a N100 million ransom before lowering it to N10 million in order to release the queen.

 

The insider indicated that

 

“Our Kabiyesi was published at 10:00 pm on Wednesday. The moment he was dumped off in Kogi State, halfway between Kabba and Lokoja, the family was called.

 

“The kidnappers received a ransom payment of N10 million from our prosperous offspring who are stationed overseas, fellow monarchs, and local chiefs.

 

“Our Kabiyesi is being treated at a hospital in Lokoja because he has become exhausted and need medical attention to restore his vigor.

 

The Ondo Police Command spokesman confirmed the situation and said that she was not aware of any ransom payment.
