On December 1, the Ogun PDP Guber Ticket Tussle will be decided by the court.

On Thursday, a Federal High Court in Abuja set December 1 for the decision in the contentious legal dispute over the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s, governorship ticket in Ogun State.

After hearing arguments from parties involved in the legal issue over the disputed ticket, Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo set the date.

Oladipupo Adebutu and Otunba Jimi Adebisi Lawal, both PDP candidates for governor, are at the core of the conflict and have competing claims to the ticket.

Jimi Lawal, a candidate in the PDP’s May 25 governorship primary election, objected to Oladipupo Adebutu’s nomination, claiming that PDP had rigged the election by using an illegal and invalid delegation list.

Lawal had petitioned, among other things, for the alleged primary election of May 25 to be canceled and for a new one to be held with the real ad hoc delegates.

However, in his ruling issued on July 29, Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the Federal High Court dismissed Jimi Lawal’s lawsuit on the grounds that the primary election was a domestic matter for all political parties and declined to hear the case on merit.

However, on November 21, the Supreme Court had mandated that the Federal High Court consider the case Jimi Adebisi Lawal had filed against the PDP and Adebutu on the merits.

After ruling that the Federal High Court had jurisdiction to hear the issue, Justice Ibrahim Saulawa of the Supreme Court ordered a prompt hearing into the lawsuit.
