In Ondo, a man burns five stepchildren.

According to Peoples Gazette, Ondo police have detained a middle-aged father for reportedly lighting five of his stepchildren on fire.

According to reports, Ojo Joseph, 54, committed the heinous deed after an argument with his wife.

According to reports, the tragic event took place in Ondo town’s Fagun neighborhood.

According to The Gazette, the accused reportedly poured petrol into the room where the kids were sleeping and lit them on fire while they were still asleep.

The insider claimed over the phone, “One of them was burned to death but the mother (wife) survived with four other children and minor injuries.”

The Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Owo is allegedly providing care for the four surviving casualties.

When approached by newsmen, Funmi Odunlami, the Ondo police command spokeswoman, verified the occurrence over the phone.

The individual is presently being held, according to Ms. Odunlami, on suspicion of “arson and murder.”

However, she said, “an investigation is still underway into the matter, and after that we would charge the suspect with a crime.”
