FG commends Ekiti on NSIP and distributes N57 million to 2,867 recipients.

The Ekiti State Government has received praise from the federal government for its involvement in carrying out the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) in the effort to lift people out of poverty in the state.

Yesterday in Ado-Ekiti, at the launch of the ministry’s grant for vulnerable groups and other social investment programs, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouq, minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster management, and social development, presented the commendation.

The minister, who was represented by Mr. Joseph Adaraloye, a director in the ministry, revealed that 2,867 beneficiaries had received grants totaling N20,000. He also said that NSIP, an initiative of the Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari, was created specifically to help many of Nigeria’s most vulnerable and impoverished citizens escape poverty.

Farouk also announced the launch of the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP 2.0), a program designed to assist low-income and vulnerable Nigerians who are engaged in some type of commercial activity but lack the resources to continue and who have never had the chance to access loans.

She continued, “GEEP was captured in three key schematic areas, including Trader Moni loan of N50,000 targeted towards upliftment of underprivileged and marginalized youths between the ages of 18 and 40 years; Market Moni loan designed for underprivileged and marginalized women in our society and specifically targeted towards female-headed households; and Farmer Moni loan scheme of maximum N300,000 designed to supply agricultural inputs to rural farmers.

While speaking on behalf of the state government, Dr. (Mrs.) Habibat Adubiaro, Secretary to State Government (SSG), praised Buhari for his numerous intervention programs designed to ensure that Nigerians live in prosperity. She noted that the Federal Government’s decision to distribute cash grants is a sign of its desire to help people overcome financial obstacles and lower the current level of poverty in Nigeria.

Adubiaro advised the recipients to wisely spend the cash awards in their companies in order to forward the goals and objectives of the government to raise the standard of life for the populace.

The SSG also pointed out that the current administration’s six-pillar development program would play a crucial role in transforming Ekiti State into a thriving economic center that would benefit all of its citizens.
