FBI Probed Tinubu For Drug Connections – Fani Kayode

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was actually looking into Bola Tinubu, the party’s presidential candidate, for “connection to narcotics and laundering drug money,” according to senior APC presidential campaign council member Femi Fani-Kayode on Saturday.

According to Fani-Kayode, a former minister of aviation, the US probe “discovered nothing,” according to POLITICS NIGERIA.

Recall that $460,000 in suspected narcotics money was apparently forfeited to the US government by Tinubu, a two-term governor of Lagos State.

Festus Keyamo (SAN), the spokesman for the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, said that the funds were tax-deducted from one of the 10 US accounts connected to Tinubu.

Fani-Kayode provided more commentary on the situation in a blog post on his official website, writing: “Tinubu opted not to contest or fight that claim and allegation by the IRS even though he was well within his rights to do so, and as a result he voluntarily lost that money.

“There was no connection between the $460,000 USD that was seized and narcotics or drug trafficking.

Instead, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) claimed it and it was entirely tax-related.

“The FBI looked into Tinubu for possible connections to narcotics and money laundering, but they discovered NOTHING. He was exonerated.

“The majority of the money they had initially taken was given back.

“The missing money had absolutely NOTHING to do with drugs.

“Tinubu is a good guy who works hard and is innocent. Those who are fabricating these accusations are only attempting to thwart his bid for the presidency.”
