Drugs worth N1.8 million found in noodles by the NDLEA
|At least One Million, Seven Hundred Sixty Thousand Four Hundred Sixty (1,760,460) tablets of tramadol and other illicit substances were found at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, in Ikeja, Lagos, as well as in Gombe state by NDLEA agents working undercover.
“Over 600,000 Tramadol 225mg pills coming from Karachi, Pakistan in two separate shipments on Ethiopian Airlines were intercepted by operatives of NDLEA at the SAHCO import shed of the Lagos airport on Monday, December 12, and Tuesday, December 13, according to Director of Media and Advocacy Femi Babafemi.
On Wednesday, December 14, authorities discovered a total of 5,960 Rohypnol tablets hidden in 60 packets of Indomie noodles headed for Johannesburg, South Africa.
“A female freight agent named Olaleye Adeola has already been taken into custody in relation to the shipment of noodles.
“In a similar incident, on Tuesday, December 13, Zone 2 Police Headquarters in Lagos detained merchant Akunne Chibuzor Tochukwu from Lagos Island’s Balogun Market for attempting to export a Tramadol shipment to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
