Avoid becoming distraction-causing agents. – Soludo Responds to Youths in the South-East

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has warned young people in the South East not to allow themselves to be used as agents of distraction but rather to recognize that they are the country’s future leaders.

The warning came after the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) threatened to throw trash at the Anambra Government House to show their displeasure with the governor’s comments regarding Mr. Peter Obi’s candidacy for Labour Party president.

Through his press secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, the governor responded and urged the young people to reconsider rather than consider themselves to be a part of the social problem that needs to be solved.

Soludo questioned why young people would allow themselves to be used as tools by politicians or other people who, in his opinion, have no positive intentions for them.

He believes that politicians only want to use young people to further their selfish ends before discarding them.

The government of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo is actually working for their betterment, he said. “Instead of threatening to come and dump trash at the Government House, the youths should rally around and support his administration, because his administration is actually working to make sure that both the youths of this present generation and the generation to come will have something that can make life more meaningful for them,” he said.

In addition to giving youths various key positions in his administration, he claimed that thousands of young people are currently being trained and given opportunities to develop their vocational skills throughout the state by Soludo’s government. This, he claimed, is strong evidence that youth empowerment is one of his administration’s main priorities.

Aburime reiterated that the Soludo administration remains focused on bringing the benefits of democracy to Nd Anambra and would not be diverted by any type of verbal attack or threat, while describing the threat made by the youths as a sponsored charade by political rivals and troublemakers who want to distract or impede the progress they are making in the state.
