Fatima Abubakar, 25, admits to poisoning her husband Goni Abbah after claiming to hate marriage.
The man, who was the neighborhood’s chief imam, reportedly passed out while eating meals prepared by his second wife, Fatimah, as he was returning from the mosque.
Before succumbing to the poison he had consumed, Abbah was taken to the hospital for immediate medical assistance.

The suspect was taken into custody on October 19 by personnel from the command at Anguwan Doki, according to Mr. Abdu Umar, the Borno State Commissioner of Police.
The cops who came to take up Fatimah dispersed the neighborhood’s enraged youngsters who had attempted to lynch the suspect by storming the victim’s house.
She admitted to killing her late husband to the police, saying she had already made up her mind when she purchased the poison at Monday Market.

I never wanted to get married, she said. I divorced my first spouse because I despise marriage, and Goni was my second husband.
“I get angry every time I wake up remembering that I am married. I eventually had to rush to my parents and beg that the marriage cease, but they constantly sent me back and pleaded with me to wait.
“At some point, two months after giving birth to my kid, I fled and spent around two weeks sleeping in an unfinished structure. I went back to my husband’s place later.
“It’s not that he doesn’t treat me nicely; we also don’t fight. I am his second wife, and we have been married since 2021. There are two of us in the home. But I just detest any approach from a male.
“I have no idea what’s wrong with me. Even when I talk to you, I do not believe that I was responsible for his death.
